The minimum and maximum age for appointment to GDS posts is 18 and 40 years respectively. A 10th standard secondary school examination pass certificate is required to apply for the post with pass marks in Mathematics, Local Language and English.

Rule 1:

  • Candidates will be selected based on the merit list automatically generated as per rules based on the application submitted online.

Rule 2:

  • No consideration will be given to higher educational qualifications.
  • Only the marks obtained in the 10th standard of the authorized board will be the criteria for finalizing the selection if they are aggregated to a percentage of accuracy of 4 decimal places.
  • Candidates are required to pass all subjects as per the rules of the respective authorized board as per the conditions mentioned in Clause B of the notification relating to the educational qualification required for the calculation of merit.

Rule 3:

  • Candidates having both marks and grades in the mark list should apply with marks only.
  • If a candidate applies with a grade only his/her application is liable for disqualification.

Rule 4:

  • In the case of a list of marks containing grades/points, marks will be calculated by converting grades and points by the multiplier (9.5) against maximum marks or grade 100.

Rule 5:

  • If the candidates get the same marks, the merit order will be taken as DOB (higher age as merit), ST trans-women, ST women, SC trans-women, SC women, OBC trans-women, OBC women, EWS trans-. Rule 6:

  • A candidate can apply for a maximum of twenty posts as per the online engagement cycle.
  • Among other things, this means that a prospective candidate can apply for up to twenty posts in a single application spread across one or all circles.
  • However, this count of twenty posts includes vacancies arising in the candidate’s home circle.
  • Home circle means the circle of native/domicile state of the prospective candidate where he/she is permanently residing and studying SSC where the postal circle is offering the opportunity.
  • Therefore, candidates should be advised to take due care while using the twenty choices available to him/her in each cycle.

Rule 7:

  • If a candidate opts for five posts including preferred post1, post2, post3, post4, post5, etc. and is selected as meritorious for more than one post, the post will be offered in order of preference and candidature for all the rest. The post will be confiscated.
  • Similarly, in case of a candidate joins any of the selected posts, the remaining preferred offers will be automatically forfeited.
  • If a candidate applies for more than one circle, only one post will be offered per circle.

Rule 8:

  • Applicants submitting applications with incomplete/wrong data will be rejected from consideration.
  • Candidate should select the appropriate board based on the year of the pass and the board of pass from the respective state where the boards are recognized.
  • Any deviation with reference to submitted documents and data entered will also be liable for rejection of candidature.
